Making vintage style hats has sent me on a search for some of the real thing. Thanks to Poppycock Vintage Hats I now have some gorgeous cheapies… nothing over $20!

Vintage 60s velvet

40s - 60s wool

70s straw bowler

70s raffia contrast hat

I could have bought the lot, but money is tight. Of course if anyone wants to buy me a present…

I found some pretty vintage trims at the local Vinnies so I’ll be making more hats over the next few days and I promise photos and a giveaway!

Handmade favourites

Made by me for me. I quite literally have cases and cases of jewellery but these are the pieces I’ve been wearing quite a bit.

Bee necklace -> Long heart and diamante pendant -> Swan Locket -> Ship necklace -> Diamante hair clips -> Cameo in frame necklace. With the exception of the long heart pendant I have the supplies to make the rest for others.

A great little skirt from Inspired Insanity under $40. The business is run by a cool Roller Derby chick, so it is nice to support a small business.

Flappers and Philosophers

Tonight I rediscovered a box of feathers I had sitting around and decided to make some 1920s inspired hair clips for myself. The results as follows:

Peacock feathers and velvet

Peahen, lace and pearls

The clip below is up for grabs for free. Email me at nwhitney[at]13am.net if you would like it:

I also made some standard floral headbands. One with a flower I made out of soft fabric and the other with a shop bought flower and black feathers:

All purpose black rose and feather headband

Fabric flower and pearls

I plan to make more but need some more glue for my trusty hot glue gun. With more practice I am hoping I get better at these.
